Week 12 Start 'em Sit 'em

Week 12: Start 'em Sit 'em.

Game 1: Arz @ Min
Start 'Em Arz:
M. Leinart, QB
L. Fitzgerald, WR
A. Bolden, WR
B. Johnson, WR
N. Rackers, K

Sit 'Em Arz:
E. James, RB
L. Pope, TE

Minnesota has the #1 rushing Defense in the league, and James has been brutal this year, so he is out. Minnesota's pass defense has been as brutal as James has been on the ground. Start Leinart and his WRs with confidence. This also brings Rackers into play as he should have a nice game.

Start 'Em Min:
C. Taylor, RB
R. Longwell, K

Sit 'Em Min:
Everyone else.

Minnesota's offense begins and ends with Chester Taylor. He is the focal point of the offense. The passing game is anemic at best. I refer to the 'Offensive Storm' of the Minnesota Vikings as a sunny spring afternoon. Sit Johnson until he can throw some TDs. Sit Robinson until his back stops hurting. Sit Williamson until he can catch. Sit Wiggins until he gets noticed in the offense. Sit Taylor until he can stop fumbling. However, one thing is certain. The Vikings are the best team in the league in starting the game with a field goal, so Longwell might be good for one or two today.

Game 2: Car @ Wash
Start 'Em Car
J. Delhomme, QB
S. Smith, WR
K. Johnson, WR
D. Williams, RB
J. Kasay, K

Sit 'Em Car
D. Foster, RB - Questionable, Elbow.

The Washington Defense hasn't been that good this year. This is one of their worst years in takeaways, since the Steve Spurrier years. Carolina's defense has been clicking. Last week it brutalized Marc Bulger and the Rams. This week Julius Peppers and company should harass second week starting quarterback Jason Campbell, and cause plenty of turnovers and excellent field position, to give the Panther's offense plenty of scoring opportunities.

Start 'Em Wash
S. Moss, WR
C. Cooley, TE

Sit 'Em Wash
L. Betts, RB
J. Campbell, QB
A. Randle El, WR

The Redskins offense is in disarray right now, which makes starting any of them a challenge. I lean to starting Moss because he is explosive and can make something out of nothing, which is what I expect Campbell to throw him, a whole lot of nothing. Cooley is a must start in all TE mandatory leagues, but if you aren't in one of those bench him. Cooley makes a good play in those leagues as raw QBs often like to seek out their TE when they get in trouble, and Cooley could put up decent numbers. Otherwise I expect this game could get ugly quick.

Game 3: Cin @ Cle
Start 'Em Cin
R. Johnson, RB
C. Johnson, WR
C. Palmer, QB
C. Henry, WR
T. J. "Championship", WR (?)
S. Graham, K

Sit 'Em Cin
T. J. Championship, WR (?)

This game should have all the aerial fireworks we've come to expect from the Bengals in the last couple of weeks. Cleveland isn't very good against the pass, and Rudi Johnson like to chew them up on the ground. Rudi hasn't had a career game under 120 yards against the Browns. You may be questioning why I have Houshmandzadeh listed both in the start/sit categories. Well this is because he hasn't done anything in the last two weeks that should warrant starting aside from going up against a brutal pass defense. I suspect he still thinks he could be James Bond, or Batman, or worse, one of the Crab People from a past episode of 'South Park'. That concussion he suffered was a doozy, and I don't think he is 100% yet. If you have a safer option that TJ, go with it.

Start 'Em Cle
C. Frye, QB
B. Edwards, WR
K. Winslow, TE
P. Dawson, K

Sit 'Em Cle
All Browns RBs

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new 32nd ranked pass defense in the NFL! It's your Cincinatti Bengals! After Drew Brees lit them up for 510 yards, the Bengals dropped to 32nd in the league. This brings all your Browns passing offense into play. Charlie Frye makes an especially sneaky play this week, in one league I'm starting him over Tom Brady. Braylon Edwards is the play maker on this team, and Kellen Winslow is a must start in TE mandatory leagues. Phil Dawson will also see plenty of field goal opportunities. Don't start any Brown runners today. The Bengals are good against the run, and if Droughns doesn't play, his backups are terrible, since Romeo Crennel doesn't seem to want to play the best RB on the team, Jerome Harrison.

Game 4: Hou @ NYJ
Start 'Em Hou
W. Lundi, RB
S. Gado, RB
A. Johnson, WR

Sit 'Em Hou
D. Carr, QB
E. Moulds, WR
O. Daniels, TE

This game is a fantasy nightmare, even though there could be plenty of points to be harvested out of it. In Houston, we have the apprentice to the Dark Lord of Fantasy Football, in Gary Kubiak (Shanahan's assistant in Denver all those years), who can't decide on a RB to save his life. Normally, in a case like this, I would say sit them both. In today's game though, the Jets are so bad against the run, both of them might actually do well enough to take the chance on them. Of course, if you have better options, take them. Andre Johnson is one of the best options in the world of Fantasy Football, even though he plays on an absolutely brutal team. If he were on a real team I would bet money he would put up early career Randy Moss type numbers. However, he's stuck in Houston putting up good numbers. Start him with confidence every week, and just hope that Carr gets pulled.

Start 'Em NYJ
L. Washington, RB
L. Coles, WR
J. Cotcherty, WR

Sit 'Em NYJ
C. Pennington, QB
Everyone Else.

This is almost exactly the mirror image of the Houston side. There is only one real safe start on New York, and that Leon Washington. Everyone else is Start and Pray. Start them, and pray they score well for you. If you have better options look elsewhere today, but don't be surprised if someone like Coles, tries to do a Lee Evans impression, and rattle off a 230 yard, 3 TD game or something insane like that. It's the NFL, and that kind of crazy stuff happens on a week to week basis.

Game 5: Jax @ Buf
Start 'Em Jax
Fraud Taylor, RB
M. Jones-Drew, RB
E. Willford, WR

Sit 'Em Jax
D. Garrad, QB
M. Jones, WR
R. Williams, WR
G. Wrightster, TE

The Jacksonville running attack should be the name of game in this one today. Coach Del Rio has probably learned that David Garrad isn't the answer at Quarterback, as he pretty much sucks. Bench all your WRs if you can. If you must start one, start Willford as he seems to be Garrard's go-near guy. Garrard isn't accurate enough to have a go-to guy. Taylor and J.D. split enough carries to make them both viable options, and Drew is the pass catching back to further increase his value. Buffalo's defense is hard to get a read on, but if Houston can light them up for 3TDs, and Jacksonville can torch the Giants, then Jacksonville shouldn't have a problem doing damage to the Bills today.

Start 'Em Buf
L. Evans, WR

Sit 'Em Buf
J. Losman, QB
A. Thomas, RB
W. McGahee, RB - Broken Ribs - rumored to play?

I really don't like anyone on Bufflo in this game. I especially don't like the fact that McGahee is rumored to be coming back, and splitting carries with Thomas. Against a defense that held Tiki Barber to 27 yards on Monday, that means ..... do the math.... neither one of them is getting anything worth a starting line up spot. The only Bill you want to start this week is Lee Evans. As he showed last week, he is the focal point of the passing game, that if it gets time to take off, he could do magnificent things with the ball, and put up huge numbers. he is also bolstered by the fact that Donovin Darius is out for the game with his knee injury that he suffered in the New York game on Monday night.

Game 6: N.O. @ Atl
Start 'Em N.O.
D. Brees, QB
D. McAlister, RB
D. Henderson, WR
J. Horn, WR

Sit 'Em N.O.
M. Colston, WR- Questionable - Ankle
T. Copper, WR- Probable- Ankle
R. Bush, RB- Probably - Overrated

How do you follow up 510 passing yards? You play the Atlanta Falcons of course. While I don't expect Brees to chuck the rock for 500, I do expect him to move it for 300, for the fifth straight week. The Atlanta defense is decent but not great, and it's own worst enemy is the Atlanta offense. Duece McAlister makes a good play this week, as he likes to run for over 100 yards every time he plays the Falcons. Separation for the lead of the division is also on the line here, so look for the Saints to put on a show. Bench Reggie Bush at least one more week until he shows that defenses don't absolutely key on him every time he steps onto the field.

Start 'Em Atl
A. Crumpler, TE
W. Dunn, RB

Sit 'Em Atl
M. Vick, QB
J. Norwood, RB
All Falcon WRs

Noone is more Schizophrenic besides me, and the pink elephant that sits beside me and edits my content. Well no one that is besides the Atlanta Falcons and their offense. They are absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get a read on. They light up good teams, lay down against bad teams, and Michael Vick will just randomly drop the ball while running in for game winning Touchdowns. How are you supposed to predict anything fantasy wise from that. The simple solution is you don't. You start Alge Crumpler in TE mandatory, and deep leagues, because Crumpler and Vick love each other. You start Dunn because he gets 20 touches a game, and has the chance to do something special with each one. The Saints defense isn't special against the run, so Dunn could actually score a TD in this game. You bench all WRs in this game because they are terrible, and probably couldn't start on the Vikings. You bench Vick, unless you are in a yardage heavy league, and a penalty free league, because he's the best running back EVER to play quarterback in the NFL.

Game 7: Pit @ Balt
Start 'Em Pit
W. Parker, RB
H. Ward, WR - Questionable, Knee

Sit 'Em Pit
B. Roethlesberger, QB
H. Miller, TE
S. Holmes, WR

In an epic battle of Defense vs. Defense, this game shouldn't yield very many fantasy points. You have to start Parker because you probably don't have many other options to go to. Parker isn't very special on the road, but he's too explosive to sit and take that chance, that maybe this is the week he figures out how to travel. Hines Ward is a start if he goes, but watch the pre-game festivities to see if he starts. He's one of the toughest players in the game, so expect him to go. If he starts, he's Big Ben's go to guy, so he is far to valuable to sit. Roethlesberger is a sit though, he is too mistake prone to take a chance on, against a swarming Raven defense. Miller, Holmes, and the rest of the offense, won't be worth much more beyond that as well.

Start 'Em Balt
J. Lewis, RB
T. Heap, TE - injured? check pregame if starting...
D. Mason, WR
S. McNair, QB
M. Clayton, WR

Sit 'Em Balt
none (backups)

Since Baltimore fired Jim Fassel, their offense has really taken off. Jamal Lewis has seen a resurgence. Mark Clayton has become noticed in the passing attack. Steve McNair has also looked like the old Co-MVP the Ravens thought he could be when they signed him this year. Pittsburgh has a stout running defense, but their pass defense definitely leaves something to be desired. McNair and company could quite possibly put up big fantasy numbers today, especially with their defense creating opportunities in good field position.

Game 8: SF @ StL
Start 'Em SF
F. Gore, RB

Sit 'Em SF
Everything else

Frank Gore is San Fransisco's offense right now. The rest of the bits are just along for the ride. That is why you really can't start anyone else. Alex Smith is starting to come around and is pretending to be a real NFL quarterback, but is still too inconsistent to start. The WRs on this team are no-names outside of Antonio Bryant, that shouldn't be on your roster. Bryant could be a sneaky start if you are absolutely stuck, but I'm sure you have better options. Leonard Little of the Rams, and his friends will try their best to make it very tough for the 49er passing game to get off the ground. Vernon Davis will be coming back this week from a broken fibula, but I'd like to see him do something before suggesting you start him.

Start 'Em StL
S. Jackson, RB
T. Holt, WR

Sit 'Em StL
M. Bulger, QB
I. Bruce, WR
K. Curtis, WR
Tight Ends

The Saint Louis offense is in flux right now, following the lose of OT Orlando Pace. Last week, against Carolina the Rams looked lost and completely out of sync, allowing Marc Bulger to be sacked 7 times, and to be shut out. Steven Jackson only had 57 combo yards from scrimmage, and no touchdowns. He should fair better against a defense that isn't as strong as the Panthers, but the loss of Pace still has me questioning how good he can do. Another week of practice, should have the kinks worked out, and Jackson and Holt should be able to put up respectable numbers. Leave Bruce and Curtis, and the smattering of Tight Ends on the bench because they haven't shown success against the Niners in the past, and with the uncertainty of the offense, you would be better served to find better options elsewhere.

Game 9: Oak @ SD
Start 'Em Oak
none
No one
Nil
Not even Randy Moss
Move along.

Sit 'Em Oak
That means All
Fargas
Moss
Brooks
etc.

Oakland. Sucks.
It's a pity too. The defense is playing well enough to have them competing in the BRUTAL AFC West. Al Davis has essentially ran this team into the ground. When they hired Art Shell, (read: he took the job as a mercy kill to Davis) and hired an offensive coordinator that worked in Bed and Breakfast in Idaho for the last 6 years, this team was in trouble. After 12 weeks they proved it. Moss has checked out mentally, wanting to be traded. Rumor around the league is that he isn't worth a 4th round pick anymore. The running game is a mess. It's a sad state of affairs when the best news out of Oakland for fantasy players is when we can say 'thank you' to LaMont Jordon, for calling it a year due to his back injury. Oakland is a mess. Don't start any of these players. Especially against a rabid San Diego defense.

Start 'Em SD
LT, RB - Perhaps you've heard of him?
A. Gates, TE

Sit 'Em SD
P. Rivers, QB
E. Parker, WR
K. McCardell, WR

When I was doing some research for this game I read an article in a highly respected newspaper that there was a petition to rename San Diego, "LaDainian Tomlinsonville". He is San Diego right now, which has been making a certain Antonio Gates owner here cringe. Gates is still a must start in TE mandatory leagues, because you have to hope that eventually they will stop neglecting their monster TE in the red zone. However, I think I have a better shot of winning Selma Hayek's heart than Gates scoring two TDs in a game as long as Marty Shottenheimer is in charge of the 'Lets rename San Diego' fan club. Oakland is weak against the run, as was the case last week when fellow RB (that's Running Beast) Larry Johnson torched them on the ground. Oakland's pass defense is surprisingly good, and that's why you are sitting your San Diego WRs this week.

Game 10: Chi @ NE
Start 'Em Chi
R. Gould, K

Sit 'Em Chi
Everyone else.

Can you say, 3-0? That's about what I see the final score of this game being. If you are stuck go ahead and start Grossman, and Moose Muhammad. The Patriots secondary is banged up, but their front seven are absolutely dominant. They can make life hell for Rex in the pocket. This is also the reason you aren't starting Thomas Jones, and Cedric Benson. They won't have any running room in this game. Bill Belichick would love nothing else than to extend his dominance over the NFC North with this game. It all starts and ends in this game with the defense. If you need to put a cowlicky baby to sleep, turn this one. It will be a real snoozer.

Start 'Em NE
Nada.

Sit 'Em NE
All.
Even Brady.

I don't like anyone in this game. The Chicago defense will be completely on fire this game. Brady doesn't make a good play because it will be so hard to predict how it will work out. I choose to sit him because there are much better options that were probably on your waiver wire (C. Frye, J. Harrington, etc.) that will have much better success against weaker defenses than Brady will this week. You can never really start any WRs from New England because they spread the ball around so much. Reche Caldwell was becoming Brady's favorite toy, so look for him next week, but sit him this week. Sit Dillion and Maroney, as there will be no running room given up by Chicago's front seven. Urlacher is getting a complex constantly being called the 'Most over-rated player in the league', and would love nothing more than to shut a few people up by stuff the illuminated ones, the New England Patriots. Expect a very low scoring, fantasy un-friendly game here.

Game 11: NYG @ Ten
Start 'Em NYG
T. Barber, RB - Questionable - hand (my injury report)
B. Jacobs, RB
J. Shockey, TE
P. Burress, WR
E. Manning, QB
T. Carter, WR

Sit 'Em NYG
D. Tyree, WR

New York is banged up right now, both physically and mentally. Thankfully they get Tennessee. Eli Manning has been decent at home, and brutal on the road, and now he's on the road. Thankfully, he gets Tennessee. Hopefully he snaps out of his funk, and starts to 'get it' a little bit. If you have a better QB this week, perhaps go with him. I put Eli in the start pile because I like his receivers against a brutal Tennessee secondary. On to the Running Back tandem, Barber and Jacobs. I don't think Barber is 100% with his thumb injury. He was having trouble catching balls against the Jags on Monday night. Look for Jacobs to get extra carries mid field, along with his traditional goal line carries. If you are carrying both, I'd lean to start Jacobs over Barber this week. Jeremy Shockey is a must start in all TE mandatory leagues, as he is one of Eli's favorite targets, and a legitimate red zone option. Plaxico Burress has a nagging back issue, but with the team struggling, his pride will be the best medicine for him, and he'll give it a go to win. Tim Carter and David Tyree will be splitting time at WR in place of the IR'd Amani Toomer, with Carter being the better option of the two if you need a play from these two. However, I would try my best to look elsewhere.

Start 'Em Ten
T. Henry, RB

Sit 'Em Ten
V. Young, QB
D. Bennett, WR
B. Scaife, TE

The Tennessee Titans are a strange team indeed. Travis Henry is one of the more frustrating running backs in the league. When he challenges good defenses, and is expected to do poorly, he lights them up for 150 yards and some tds. When he challenges pop warner squads like the Texans, and you expect him to go for 150 and the tds, he's either inactive, or you wish he were. It'll be interesting to see how he does against a supposedly good, but banged up New York Giants front this week at home. He will probably do well enough to warrant being used with confidence. Vince Young. The number 3 pick in last years draft. The pet of the owner. Matt Leinart is obviously the better quarterback, but Young is supposedly the more 'exciting' one. The truth is, Young sucks. He sucks worse than Vick. His completion percentage is worse than 50%, he has one 200+ yard passing game on his resume. Young has more Ints than passing Tds. Unless you are in a keeper league, he shouldn't be on a roster. His receivers aren't special either, due mostly to Young's ineffeciencies at QB. Sit them until Young can prove he can complete more than 8 passes in a game, which is how many he completed last week against the Eagles.

Game 12: Phi @ Indy
Start 'Em Phi
B. Westbrook, RB
L. Smith, TE

Sit 'Em Phi
J. Garcia, QB
R. Brown, WR
D. Stallworth, WR - Questionable - Hammy

No team was devastated more last week than the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm also willing to wager that every owner that had Donovan McNabb on their roster also was devastated when the quarterback went down with his season ending knee injury. I personally lost 3 of 4 games thanks to that injury. That said, enter Jeff Garcia, stage right. Garcia looks to save the Iggles' season. To do that the whole game plan will have to change. Gone are the days of the downfield passing game, back are the days of pounding the ball, and the short dump offs. Brian Westbrook looks to increase his roll in the offense, and L. J. Smith looks to increase his production, as Garcia scrambles and dumps to the tight end. What does all this mean for the wide receivers? You can all but kiss their seasons good bye. Reggie Brown was already on his way down with the emergence and return of Donte Stallworth, from his injuries. When Stallworth is healthy, Brown was invisible in the passing game. Stallworth reinjured 'a' hamstring late this week, while it could be good news for Brown, it remains to be seen if Garcia has the talent left to get Brown the ball. The same will be said for Stallworth if he plays, which is why we are leaving them on the bench this week. It doesn't help that the Colts pass defense is the better part of its defense. If Philly hopes to win this game, and keep its playoff hopes alive, it will need to attack Indy on the ground. This is what make Westbrook such a good option this week.

Start 'Em Indy
P. Manning, QB
M. Harrison, WR
R. Wayne, WR
J. Addai, RB

Sit 'Em Indy
D. Rhodes, RB
B. Utecht, TE
D. Clark, TE
B. Stokley, WR

Indianapolis has a prolific offense that looks to run up on down the field tonite against the Eagles. Peyton Manning is one of the hottest QBs in the league right now, and should NEVER be benched EVER. Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne are two of the league leaders in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. While it is hard to get a read on who will get the majority of looks from Peyton in any given week, you can't bench either one of them. Last week, Wayne went off a bit, so look for Harrison to get a bit more 'love' this week to keep things balanced. Joseph Addai has passed Domanic Rhodes to be the number one back in Indy, (closed circut to ESPN). Addai is also the better back, and the better fantasy play. If Garcia can't keep the Iggle offense moving, and on the field, look for Peyton and company to run up the score early. Once this happens look for Addai to get his action late in the game running wild on a tired Eagles defense, while the Colts run down the clock. You can't start the Colts tight ends because they split too much time, and it is too hard to get a read on who will get what on any given week. Stokley hasn't played much all year, so leave him alone as well.

Game 13: GB @ Sea (Monday night)
Start 'Em GB
B. Favre, QB -Probable, Elbow
D. Driver, WR
G. Jennings, WR -Probable, Ankle
A. Green, RB

Sit 'Em GB
B. Franks, TE
Backup, RB

It's a good thing that Favre should be ready to go for this game. It could be a track meet for the two teams. Outside of Ohio this week, there isn't any two more feeble teams meeting that are as terrible against the pass as Green Bay and Seattle. Seattle may rank well, but their stats are skewed because as of late they went up against some of the most inept passing attacks in the NFL, such as Minnesota and San Fran. Look for Favre, Driver, and Jennings to all have good games on the national stage of Monday Night Football. Ahman Green also makes a good play Monday night as the Seahawks tend to struggle against the run.

Start 'Em Sea
S. Alexander, RB
M. Hassleback, QB
D. Jackson, WR
D. Branch, WR

Sit 'Em Sea
J. Stevens, TE
D. Hackett, WR
B. Engram, WR
M. Morris, RB

Seattle is finally getting healthy, and just in time too. They meet Green Bay, the 31st ranked pass defense in the league. Hassleback comes back just in time to knock the rust off of his knee and get healthy, by tossing bombs to his favorite receivers, Jackson and Branch. Branch makes the better play because he will draw the Cornerback not named Al Harris. Jackson isn't bad either, because Al Harris has been known to just forget to cover people every once in a while. Alexander came back last week and tested out his foot, and seemed to get back into the flow of the game. He makes a good play against a Green Bay team that can be ran against. He may lose a few carries to Maurice Morris in the middle of the field, but Alexander will get the money carries around the goal line. Expect alot of fantasy points out of this game. You don't want to start Stevens because he is just far to inconsistant to rely on. If you are stuck at TE though, you could do a lot worse.

Thanksgiving day Recap

The Thanksgiving Day feasts are over. The turkeys are cooked, the stuffing is gone, and you are waking up to your fourth turkey sandwich for breakfast. You are also wondering how your fantasy football teams did. More importantly, you are wondering if I know what I am talking about here. Well I've never been shy about fessing up when I put my foot in my mouth, so without hesitation, lets take a quick look back at who I told you to start, and who I told you to sit in yesterdays slate of NFL action.

Game 1: MIA @ DET.

Start:
R. Brown RB: 15att / 68yds 0TDs inj'd in the 3rdQ. I'm calling that a correct pick, only because his back up, Sammie Morris, came in and tore off 91 yards on 12 carries. That easily would have put Brown in the 150 yard area. Early reports on Brown's hand are he'll need surgery to repair the first metacarpal, and he'll miss one game. I'll have to look into Miami's next opponent to see if Morris is worth picking up or not.

R. McMichael TE: 3rec / 25yds 1TD. A TD from a TE is always a winner.

W. Welker WR: 5Rec / 42 yds / 0TD. Kinda missed this one. He was one of Harrington's favorite targets, he just didn't do much with his opportunities.

C. Chambers WR: 2rec / 23 yds / 0TD. Totally missed this one. I'm going to have a hard time trusting Chambers in the future, unless a WR gets hurt.

J. Harrington QB: 19c/29a/213yds/3TD/1INT . All in all a great game from the noodle armed QB heading back to face the team that sent him packing last off season. Harrington threw his first 3 TDs on Thanksgiving, and I'm glad to say I saw it coming. I just wish I could have seen who he was going to throw them to. Oh yeah, he did this with getting pulled halfway through the 4th quarter too.

Sit:
M. Booker WR: 7rec / 115yds / 2TD. Yup. Blew this one. This pick leads me to believe that the Dolphins may be taking a page out of Tom Brady's book and spreading the ball around to who ever can catch it. When that happens, you can never trust any receiver week in, week out. It'll be interesting heading into the fantasy playoffs to see how this develops.

D. Hagan WR: 0/0/0. Didn't catch a cold. However, I heard he did do a good Snoop Dogg impression, and dropped a few like they were hot. But, when footballs are coming off the arm of Joey Harrington, I don't think that's possible. I just think he sucks.

O. Mare K: 2/2 FG lng 42 3/3XP. 9pts Not a bad day for a kicker. Mare had about one more field goal and extra point than I was expecting.

Detroit
Start:
R. Williams WR: 6rec /126 yds /0TD. A good game from Roy. I would have liked to see him get into the end zone, but beggars can't be choosers. Roy had 110 yards in the first half, and then Miami defense decided it wanted to start it's thanksgiving feast early. It's appetizer? Jon Kitna. He was sacked 8 times all day, and constantly harrassed. This severely cut into Roy's 2nd half production. I'm still sure that the 126 yards Roy put up will help your team.

J. Kitna QB: 22c/40a/252 yds/ 1TD /1INT. Overall, not terrible numbers. Kitna's numbers will pale when compared to Romo's, but in many weeks, 250 yds and a TD is enough to keep your team respectable.

J. Hanson K: 1/1 FG lng 52 1/1XP. Sub-par day for Hanson. He obviously struggled due to the offenses inability to move the ball, and keep Kitna off the carpet. If your league gives bonus points for long field goals, you probably salvaged a decent game from him.

Sit:
K. Jones RB: DNP - I told you not to start him anyway.

M. Furrey WR: 7rec /67 yds /0TD. Mike Furrey had a decent game while the defense obviously focused on Williams. While his 67 yards isn't special, I would have taken it over Chambers' pathetic 23 yards.

Backup RBs: 10ru/21yds/0td. The Lions backup rushers COMBINED for 10 attempts and 21 yards. I hope you stayed far far away from them.

Game 2: TB @ DAL

Start:
J. Galloway, WR: 3 / 71 /0. He led his team in yardage, which when his QB only throws for 120 yards, really doesn't say much. Galloway's 70 yards aren't as bad as other number one receivers we've seen today. Yes, I'm looking at you Chris Chambers.

A. Becht, TE: 0/0/0. Okay, So I missed him. I was going off the depth chart, and assumed based on his past successes in New York, that with Alex Smith injured that Becht would be the one to step up and grab some receptions. However, we go back to Gradkowski's performance, and realize that Becht's performance isn't that surprising.

Sit:
C. 'Escort' Williams, RB: 17 / 78/ 0. Williams actually turned in a halfway respectable game today. He had 78 yards on the ground against a stiff Dallas defense. Williams showed however that his value will diminished until he can shed the shadow of Mike Alstott, who sniped the one easy shot at a touchdown the Bucs had on Thursday.

M. Clayton, WR: 2/ 12/ 0. Pure Disappointment from Clayton. While most third receivers break out of their shells and flourish, Clayton has gone into a cocoon. He shouldn't be on a roster at this point.

B. Gradkowski, QB: 10/20/ 120/ 0td/ 2int. Gradkowski had the game you expect from a rookie out of Toledo going against an aggressive defense like the Dallas Cowboys, in Dallas. He played badly, and his stats proved it. He may not deserve to be on a roster after this game, as other defense start to get more game tape on Gradkowski.

A. Smith, TE: DNP. And couldn't have helped anyway.

M. Bryant, K: 1/1 long- 41 1/1 XP. Bryant had a decent game, all things considered. If you consider his offense stunk, and his defense couldn't stop the Cowboys at all. I'm sure though fantasy teams needed more than the 4 pts. he provided. A smart player didn't start him anyway.

Dallas:

Start:
T. Owens, WR: 8/107/1 . The Player did quite well on Turkey Day. He grabbed quite a few of Tony Romo's wide open passes, as the Buccaneers decided not to cover anyone all day. Owens did drop a couple of easy ones early, but with 100 yards on the day, we can forgive him.

T. Glenn, WR: 4/89/2. I was hesitant to include Glenn in the 'Start' section of the day. I'm glad I did, after seeing him grab those two first half TDs, and the second half yards. Glenn turned in a very nice day, after being questionable with injuries and a challenged relationship with Romo.

J. Witten, TE: 3/30/0. Witten seemed to be the only one left out of the Thanksgiving day celebrations in Dallas on Thursday. While Owens was catching 8 balls, Glenn grabbing two touchdowns, and the running backs running wild, seems like Romo forgot to spread some love to ole Jason Witten. No matter, Witten is still a must start in Tight End mandatory leagues.

T. Romo, QB: 22/29/306/5tds/0int. Tony Romo had an absolutely fabulous day. There really isn't much more that needs to be said. The real surprising thing is that he chose to throw on third down inside the 5 to Marion Barber, instead of handing off to him. Either way, the job got done, and Romo tied a Dallas Cowboys franchise record of 5 tds in a game. He was well above the 275 and 2tds that I had predicted heading into the game.

J. Jones, RB: 11/40/0.
M. Barber, RB: 16/83/0 - 2/3/2 receiving. The RB situation in Dallas is definitely one of the more frustrating in fantasy football. However, I hate to be the one to say I told you so, but I told you so. Barber was the better start, and his hard nose approach is more enduring to Parcells' style. Jones is the speedier, more talented runner, which makes him impossible to cut loose. I feel this situation will continue this way throughout the year. Barber will get more of the TD opportunities.

Sit:
P. Crayton, WR: 4/68/0: The soft Tampa secondary led to the Cowboys receivers and Tony Romo to put up some good numbers. Crayton's 68 yards are testament to this. I wouldn't expect him to continue to warrant fantasy consideration until either Owens or Glenn gets injured.

M. Vanderjagt, K: 1/1 22 lng, 5/5XP. 8pts. The only shot Vandershank had a field goal was from 22 yards out. I'd hope he could make that one. his job in Dallas is safe for one week. Eight points is decent for a fantasy kicker, however, it's nothing to write home to mom about.

Game 3: DEN @ KC

Denver:
Start:

J. Walker, WR: 6/55/0. Walker was the focal point of the Broncos passing game. It was quite evident though that Jake Plummer sucks, and needs to be replaced. Especially when he throws 39 passes, and can only manage to get 6 of them into the hands of the talented Walker. Look for vastly improved numbers with Jay Cutler under center next week.

J. Elam, K: 1/1 lng -31. 1/1 xp. 4pts. This was the prototypical game exhibiting why I hate kickers. Elam has all the talent in the world, and can hit treys from anywhere on the field, and he rots on the sideline due to a completely inept Jake Plummer. Don't give up on Elam, he should do better next week, with an offensive makeover.

Sit:
J. Plummer, QB: 25/39/ 216/1/1. Thankfully... This should be the last time in the foreseeable future that we see Jake 'the snake' Plummer. All I know, is that is what I was thankful for yesterday.

Denver RBs: 14/28/0. Shanahan was at it again. This time he did the sane thing. He deactivated Tatum Bell, and started Mike Bell. However, in last nights game, he forgot to run to stupid ball. Shanahan called Bell's name 10 times for 28 yards, and something called 'Nash' four times, and he was lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage. I warned you! Stay away from the Denver Running Backs. If it is the last thing you do. Let someone else in your league have these headaches. Friends don't let friends drive drunk, but friends do let friends have Denver Running Backs.

R. Smith, WR: 4/ 39/ 0. For being old and injured, Smith turned in a game. Yup, that's it. A game. I told you not to start him, so his 30+ yards shouldn't be that much of a shock.

Kansas City:
Start:
L. Johnson, RB: 34/ 159/ 1. Johnson proved why he's a beast. The offense in Kansas City begins and ends with Larry Johnson. He leads the league in rushing, and if it wouldn't be for that running back in San Diego he would be on pace for League MVP. Count on him to lead your team to the playoffs, and to the championship.

S. Parker, WR: 3/71/ 0. Parker didn't put up fantastic numbers in this contest. However, he did lead his team in receiving, which I can hang my hat on in pegging. Again, 71 yards isn't special, but I would rather have had Parker's 71 yards, than Chambers feeble yardage.

L. Tynes, K: 4/4 lg-34, 1/1XP 13pts. Fabulous game for a kicker. The Denver defense really came through for me on this pick. Even though I would like to see one less field goal from Tynes, and a TD to Johnson or Parker, but oh well, such is life.

Sit:
T. Green, QB: 13/22/161/0td/1int. Trent Green should have knocked the rest of rust of his joints, and the cobwebs out of his head with this game. He's had two sub-par performances in a row now. Last week against Oakland I chalked it up to coming back off the injury, and this week I'll call it a combination of the last bit of the injury, and a really good Denver pass defense, along with Gonzo being hurt as well. Next week, everyone should be 100%, and ready to rock and roll.

T. Gonzalez, TE: 4/ 35/ 0. Going in, we knee Gonzo was still a little sore, and not quite 100%. Plus his track record against Denver wasn't the greatest, so these numbers aren't surprising. I'm just glad he didn't reinjure the shoulder in the game with Denver. Expect bigger and better things out of him next week.

E. Kennison, WR: 1/16/0. Plain and simple. Champ Bailey shut Kennison down. Nothing else to see. I'm struggling to decide if Kennison even belongs on a fantasy roster at this point, but I'll give him another week or two. I definitely won't be able to trust him in the playoffs.

Start 'em, Sit 'em, Thanksgiving Day.

In this topic, I'm going to attempt to go game by game and let you know who to start from each game. This Turkey Day we are treated to 3 games that have very tasty fantasy match ups. So without further ado, on to the match ups!

Game 1: Miami @ Detroit 12:30PM ET.

Start 'Em Miami (2.5-5)
Ronnie Brown RB (5)
Randy McMichael TE (3)
Wes Welker WR (3)
Chris Chambers WR (2.6)
Joey Harrington QB (3)

Ronnie Brown - The Detroit Lions defense is still injury riddled, and is coming off of a game where they allowed the abysmal Edgerrin James to nearly get 100 yards. They are averaging giving up about 16 fantasy points per game. Brown is a must start, since the Dolphins finally realized that the secret to winning is to not let Joey Harrington pass 62 times a game.

Randy McMichael - He is simply a must start in all TE mandatory leagues, usually because there aren't many better options out there. While he hasn't scored a TD yet this year, only the Bengals and the 49ers have given up more tight end TDs than the Lions have. McMichael may be a good check down option for Harrington.

Wes Welker - Welker has been the leading receiver for the Dolphins this year. He leads the team with 74 receptions and 512 yards. He has become a favorite target of Harrington this year. As the number two target in Miami, Chambers tends to draw the better CB of the defenses, leaving Welker open with the better coverages. This week Welker will most likely draw something not called Dre Bly. I like his chances.

Chris Chambers - Chambers is the number 1 WR on the depth chart in Miami, and the WR that everyone expected big things out of this year, myself included. I have been relatively unimpressed with his production this year. That said, I'm tempted to start him if you got him this week, but he's definitely sittable if you have better options. He will most likely draw Dre Bly, a true shutdown corner in the NFL. Chambers is still the favorite target in the Miami passing offense. Getting thrown at roughly 11 times per game. Start him, but do it only if other options are in trouble. For example, Marques Colston is hurt on my team, so I'm kinda stuck.

Joey Heatherton, er I mean Harrington - It really pains me to say that... The only reason you are looking to start Harrington this week is because he's playing on a Thursday, and because a few other top flight QBs are either hurt or looking so shaky. Harrington has been good enough to put up fantasy numbers lately, so if you are in a pickle, you can start him, and feel good about it, going up against a soft Detroit secondary. If McNabb doesn't blow out his knee, and Green, Brooks, Bulger, Plummer, Hasslebeck, and Eli Manning all look shaky you probably wouldn't need to look elsewhere for a QB. But with those developments, here you are, looking for points from this guy.

Sit 'Em Miami (1-2.5)
Marty Booker WR (1)
Derek Hagan WR (1)
Olindo Mare K (1)

Marty Booker - I'm guessing there just won't be enough balls to go around after Welker, Chambers, Brown, and McMichael get theirs. Plus I'm just not that fond of number 3 WRs on sub par offenses.

Derek Hagan - See Marty Booker. I feel even less love for number 4 WRs on sub par offenses.

Olindo Mare - His best days are far behind him. You probably have a better kicker anyway.

Start 'Em Detroit (2.5-5)
Roy Williams WR (4)
Jon Kitna QB (3)
Jason Hanson K (3)

Roy Williams - He is a freak wide receiver on a bad team. Williams is the Offense of the Lions. He is averaging 10 looks per game from Kitna. At home he has been doing quite well, averaging 110 yards per game. Three of his four TDs have come at home as well. Williams is a must start this week. Miami's defense may be stiff, But the anemic Vikings offense just put up over 250 passing yards on Miami's defense, most of those would look to go to Williams.

Jon Kitna - Kitna is averaging 260 yards and at least 1 TD per game this year. Quietly, those are good enough stats for most leagues. Kitna is getting bashed in most circles because he's playing for the Lions. If he was putting up those numbers on the Cowboys, he would be applauded. As I stated above, Miami's defense just got done allowing the Vikings to pass all over them. With the Mike 'The Mad Scientist' Martz as the teams Offensive Coordinator, I would expect the Lions to do alot of passing in this game. Expect good numbers from him in this one. However, if your league punishes ints, you may want to also count on at least one of those as well.

Jason Hanson - I hate kickers. But Hanson is one you can actually count on. He's been averaging about 7 points per game depending on your scoring system. Miami actually gives up 1-2 FGs per game.

Sit em Detroit (1-2.5)
Kevin Jones (2)
Mike Furrey (2)
RB Backup (1)

Kevin Jones - KJ is on the injury report with a sprained ankle. I wouldn't start him even if he were healthy against a stout Miami rushing defense.

Mike Furrey - The number 2 WR in Detroit has been productive in past weeks. If you don't have any better options, you may give him a look. He gets 8 looks per game, roughly 5 catches per game, and has 3 TDs on the year. Chances are you have better options than Mike Furrey.

RB Backup - If you aren't starting a talented Kevin Jones when healthy, why would you start his luggage carrier? Don't worry about it, if it's Arlen Harris or Shawn Bryson, or Aveion Cason. Move along, nothing to see here.

Game 2: Tampa Bay at Dallas 4:15PM ET

Start 'Em Tampa Bay (2.5-5)
Joey Galloway WR (3)
Anthony Becht (2.6)

Joey Galloway - Galloway is the number one receiving option of QB Gradkowski. He gets the majority of the looks, even though he will draw the Cowboys number one CB, and probably a double team, from Roy Williams, Galloway makes the best start of the Buccaneers and the receiving corps. Although don't expect too much out of him this week.

Anthony Becht - Alex Smith is usually the Buccaneers number one TE, however, this week he is listed as doubtful with an ankle injury. Enter Anthony Becht stage right. The Cowboys are susceptable to being passed upon by the tight end. They have given up 424 yards, and 4 TDs to TEs on the year. With the defense keying on Galloway and Clayton, things should open up for Becht. If you have better options, go with them. However, Becht makes a very sneaky sleeper pick this week.

Sit 'Em Tampa Bay (1-2.5)
Carnell Williams RB (2)
Michael Clayton WR (1)
Bruce Gradkowski QB (1)
Alex Smith TE (1) (Doubtful - Ankle)
Matt Bryant K (2)

Carnell Williams - "Cadillac" has been nothing more than a Ford Escort this season. He has only topped the 100 yard mark twice this year. He doesn't look to do it against a very stiff Dallas defense, that will key on the run and force the rookie QB to beat them. Williams was most likely your number 1 pick last fall, but until he gets off the blocks, sit the Escort.

Michael Clayton - No WR has been more disappointing since his rookie year than Clayton. He has done nothing this year to warrant being on a fantasy roster, let alone in your starting lineup this week.

Bruce Gradkowski - If the Dallas Cowboy defense can effectively shut down Peyton Manning and the Colts offense, what makes you think that this rookie QB can waltz into the Big D, and light up the Cowboys? Nothing, that's what. Gradkowski has been surprising this year in his efficency, but he won't do anything special this week. Look elsewhere for a QB for your team.

Alex Smith - Injured players don't get started. Simple. Especially ones in this game.

Matt Bryant - He is a reliable kicker, fairly accuate, and has a decent leg. He exhibited this with his 62 yard bomb against Philly. However, Dallas is only giving up 5.8 fantasy points to kickers this year. You can probably find more production from someone else in the league.

Start 'Em Dallas (2.5-5)
Terrell Owens WR (4)
Terry Glenn WR (3)
Jason Witten TE (3)
Tony Romo QB (3)
Julius Jones RB (2.6)
Marion Barber RB (2.7)

Terrell Owens - "The Player". Terrell has become a must start player with the emergence of Tony Romo. Owens must have bullied Romo into throwing him the ball more, something he couldn't do when Bledsoe was the QB in Dallas. Whatever the excuse is Terrell Owens is simply a player you can't sit down anymore based on performance.

Terry Glenn - Glenn used to be the Number One option in Dallas, with Bledsoe as QB. Then Romo took over, and he started to vanish. A knee injury later and Glenn basically disappeared. He re-emerged last week against the Colts to put up some acceptable numbers, just good enough to make me take him out of the 'sit 'em' category against a weak Buccaneers secondary. Normally you probably wouldn't start Glenn.

Jason Witten - Witten has emerged as Romo's number two target after Owens. When Bledsoe was the QB Witten had been non-existant in the Cowboy's offense. Now he is enjoying renewed success as Romo's safety blanket. This week it also helps that the Buccaneers are giving up 50 yards a week to TEs, and have allowed a TD every other week or so. I see Witten getting into the End Zone at least once this game.

Tony Romo - Romo has been a surprise this season since taking over for Bledsoe in the 2nd half of the Monday Night Giants game. He looked absolutely brutal in that game, but since then he has shown flashes of brilliance. He has been able to keep The Player happy, and win some games in Big D, keeping the fans happy. Romo has also been able to put up decent numbers keeping fantasy players happy. Excepting last week against the Colts, Romo had been averaging over 275 yards per game and was good for at least 1, if not 2 TDs. There are no signs here to show that you can't expect at least 275 and 2 against the Buccaneers on Turkey Day.

Julius Jones and Marion Barber - I am hesisitant to start either one of these backs, but if I had to, I would lean to Barber before Jones, simply because he gets the TDs. Jones is shakey because the Bucs D doesn't allow many rushing yards, and they have only given up 5 rushing TDs on the year. That said, Parcells does like to run, so it does make it hard to sit these guys, but temper your expectations. I would guess that Barber has the better Fantasy game than Jones.

Sit 'Em Dallas (1-2.5)
Patrick Crayton WR (2)
Mike Vanderjagt K (2)

Patrick Crayton - He could be a viable option if Glenn suffers a setback with his 'bone on bone' knee injury. As it stands now he is the third WR, and the fourth or fifth option in the passing game. It doesn't bode well for fantasy production.

Make Vanderjagt - Once the most accurate kicker in history, now he holds the nickname Mike Vandershank. Chances are one or two more misses could have him on the next bus back to Canada looking for work as a hockey puck. Don't start him until he can show that he can actually make a kick or two in a row without an announcer saying 'WIDE RIGHT!'.

Game 3: Denver at Kansas City 8:00PM ET

Start 'Em Denver (2.5-5)
Javon Walker WR (3.5)
Jason Elam K (3)

Javon Walker - Javon Walker is the Alpha and the Omega of the Denver passing game, and that isn't saying much. He is far too talented to be sat down in leagues any more, after a very frustrating start to the season. Jake Plummer has already been put on notice that he will be benched in week 13 (*you heard it here first) so there isn't a gaurantee that Plummer will make it through this game in tact. Should that happen, look for Jay Cutler to come in and provide some spark to the passing game, and Javon Walker to be the direct beneficiary of that spark.

Jason Elam - A very accurate kicker, and Denver settles for a lot of Field Goals. You should start him with confidence. I have even noticed him available on the waiver wire in a few of my leagues. Kansas City also gives up 7.5 fantasy points a game to kickers, so expect 2 FGs or so from him, with the extra points.

Denver Sit 'Em (1-2.5)
Jake Plummer QB (1)
All Denver RBs (2.4)
Rod Smith WR (2.5) - Probable Ankle

Jake Plummer - The bell finally tolled for ole Jake the Snake. He will be benched in Week 13. There are no gaurantees he will even get to finish this game. That is why you are to bench him for this game. He will be completely unpredictable. Jake could be like a little girl and go pout and play like, well the crap he's played like all year, or he could go out and light it up like he did last year. I'll go with this year's track record and guess he'll play like crap against a decent KC defense in Kansas City.

All Denver RBs - NOTHING is more frustrating than the Running Back situation in Denver. NOTHING. Not getting stood up by Jessica Simpson, Not getting burned by a half point on your last leg of 5 team parlay. NOTHING. Reports out of Denver could be Tatum Bell could have both feet amputated, and he would start and run for 150 and 2 scores, sitting comfortably on your bench. Mike Bell could be the logical start for those in fantasy land, and he'll be a last minute deactivation, leaving you with a big fat zero. If you have a gun to your head and someone says, chose a Denver RB, or the plague......... Take the plague.

Rod Smith - The venerable one should be a reliable target this week, if he were healthy, and if Jake Plummer cared, and if he had done anything this week to prove that he should be on a roster, let alone in a lineup. Leave him on your bench for a better option this week.

Start 'Em Kansas City (2.5-5)
Larry Johnson RB (5)
Sammy Parker WR (2.5)
Lawrence Tynes K (2.5)

Larry Johnson - LJ is a BEAST. I'd start him against the '85 Bears, the 2000 Ravens, and pretty much anyone and everyone. You can't sit him. Ever. If he gets stuffed on the ground, he'll get his through the air. LJ was making a case to being the best RB in fantasy football until that one guy named Tomlinson went nutty and scored something like 19 touchdowns in 5 games or whatever it was he did.... perhaps you've heard of him?

Sammy Parker - Parker makes a very sneaky sleeper pick this week in deep leagues only because he'll draw the CB not named Champ Bailey. Teams have been using and abuse Darrent Williams all year. While Williams has made some plays, he's missed more than he's made. Look for Parker to be the go-to guy while Gonzalez isn't 100%, and Kennison draws Bailey.

Lawrence Tynes - 'Eh. He's a kicker going up against a stout defense that bends but doesn't break. Look for plenty of field goal oppurtunities this week. Tynes will probably miss one of them, but those are the breaks.

Sit 'Em Kansas City (1-2.5)
Trent Green QB (2)
Tony Gonzalez TE (2) Probable - Shoulder
Eddie Kennison WR (1)

Trent Green - He's still recovering from his brutal concussion he took back in week one. Denver's pass defense is still pretty nice, and with Larry Johnson looking to carry the rock plenty, don't expect too much. Look for Green to be a care taker one more week to get his legs and his head back in the game. He might do just enough to win the game for the Chiefs, but if you need 300 yards and 3 TDs, you won't get it from Green this week. Especially with Gonzo not 100% with his shoulder injury.

Tony Gonzalez - Gonzo is hurt with a shoulder injury he suffered 2 weeks ago, he's going to be a trooper and play tonight. Even if he were 100% healthy I wouldn't expect too much out of him, as his numbers against Denver have been brutal recently. He has little more than 100 yards total, in his last *FIVE* games versus the Broncos. If you have to have a TE, go ahead and start him, just don't expect much.

Eddie Kennison - Look for Kennison to be shut down by Shutdown corner Champ Bailey. Even if Kennison wouldn't be drawing Bailey, I wouldn't like his chances. Kennison has proven this year that he really can't catch. Eddie has been thrown to 61 times this year, only catching 31 of them, for 521 yards and 2 TDs. Definately look elsewhere for production this week.

Well that does it for the Thursday games. I'll be back tomarrow to see how I did with my predictions. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving day festivities, as well as your fantasy football, especially if any of my advice helps you win your matchups this week.

Introduction

Let me introduce myself. My name is Jason Eikmeier. I grew up in Austin Minnesota, commonly referred to as 'Spamtown, USA', as it is the home of Hormel Foods. Growing up in Minnesota you become a die hard Minnesota Vikings fan, or suffer pain and ridicule. There is no legitimate option. You can't possibly be a Packer fan, it is forbidden in my family. So that said, everyone should be well familiar with the failings and the history of the Vikings.

I love football. I love the NFL, and I even appreciate college football to a point, but growing up with the Gophers as my model division 1 school, I don't have a whole lot of love for them either. So until 2001 or so, my interest was waning. It was then a friend of mine introduced me to online fantasy football. It immediate rekindled my interest in the NFL, and the Vikings again.

My first team consisted of players such as Bledsoe and Vick. Faulk and Michael Bennett. Ancient WRs like Jerry Rice, and Rod Smith. I ended up winning the first league I ever played in. After that I was hooked. I played three to four leagues a year, became commissioner of my own keeper league that is now in its third year, and one of the funnest leagues that my guys are playing in. I have maybe had one losing season in roughly 15 leagues, over the last 4-5 seasons. I love all things fantasy football, and with all the time I have invested over the year I have decided that I don't like my current career, so I'm going to start writing on this stuff, and eventually add some legitimacy to my opinions. I already have helped friends in other leagues dominate their league, and helped a friend that knew nothing about fantasy football, learn about the game, and lead his leagues in 2 years.

Over the next few weeks I'll add opinions on individual players, and game breakdowns and such. If I get any questions I'd be glad to answer them as well. I hope to update this a few times a week until I get my full website set up in the off season, and then if response is good here, keep updating once or twice a week as interest warrants.

I hope this works :)
