Week 12 Sunday Observations.

Breathing is overrated- In a surprise move Willis McGahee started today's game vs. Jacksonville with 3 cracked ribs. So far on the day he has 5 carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns. Who knew it was cracked ribs that helped you run against the Jags.

Deverreeeeey, Devereeerahhhh- Devery Henderson, starting in place of the injured Marques Colston, took a Drew Brees pass 76 yards for a TD on the opening Saints drive of the day. Unfortunately, that catch is the only one he has on the day, with 2 minutes to play in the first half.

Action Jackson - Steven Jackson, The running back in St. Louis who is most under the microscope today, due to the loss of Orlando Pace. Jackson has answered his critics with 101 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Steven is also leading his team in receiving with 3 catches for 26 yards. While this is good news for Jackson, it also means that Holt is slacking in the receiving department.

Braylon Who?- Although it was reported that Braylon Edwards was supposedly playing today, he hasn't been found on the field. Dennis Northcutt has been picking up Edwards slack hauling in 3 receptions for 61 yards.

Bulger Dinged - In the last series of the half in the StL/SF game, Marc Bulger was injured, and Gus Frerotte came in to finish off the half. It will be interesting to see if Bulger comes back to finish the game, or if he will miss significant time.

Surprise of the week- Comes to us from Carolina vs. Washington. The 6-3 score at the half, where it looks like the Washington offense is playing brutally, with 3 players putting the ball on the turf, and recovering it. The main surprise is that the Washington Defense is showing up and playing effectively. They are bottling up Steve Smith, holding him to 10 yards on 2 catches and have intercepted Jake Delhomme once in the game. It will be interesting to see what adjustments these two teams make at the half.

That's it for now. Please enjoy the second half of today's afternoon action!

New Surprise of the Week - Brad Johnson is pretending he's a real quarterback today. Not since dinosaurs roamed the earth has Brad Johnson thrown 3 tds in one game. The only problem is non of them are going to players you would start, excepting maybe Marcus Robinson. The other two have gone to 4th WR Billy McMullen, and 3rd TE Jeff Dugan. Don't get too excited about Brad's performance this week, as next week he lines up against the Chicago Bears, in the Windy City.

Tomlinson getting tuckered? - This week LT ONLY had 109 yards rushing, and two touchdowns. Well, and then he threw one to Antonio Gates. Apparently he heard my call to get Gates more involved in the offense, since Phillip Rivers was having some trouble. Still, 3 TDs on the day for LT is a good day for any other back in the league, just for him we have to start to wondering if that maybe things are finally catching up to him.
